Accra circuit court charges motor rider over abduction and defilement, case adjourned:

Abel Ansah has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on charges of abduction and defilement.
Ansah is accused of detaining a 15-year-old female for three days and unlawfully defiling her at Pantang Village in Accra on August 23, 2025.
Ansah, accompanied by his counsel, pleaded not guilty to the charges.The court granted him bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties.
The prosecution was instructed to file and serve disclosures and witness statements to the court and defence counsel.
The case has been adjourned to November 27 for a Case Management Conference.
According to the prosecution, the complainant is the victim’s older sister, and both reside at Pantang Village.
The accused, a commercial motor rider residing at Nyamebekyere, near Adukrom Akuapem in the Eastern Region, is alleged to be the victim’s boyfriend.
The prosecution stated that on August 26, the complainant reported to the “Missing Persons” Unit at the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters that her sister had been missing for three days.
The complainant reported that on August 23, she returned from work to find her sister had left home, and efforts to locate her were unsuccessful.
The victim’s older brother located her at Akuapem Mamfe on August 27 and handed her over to the Unit, the court heard.
Investigations revealed that the victim, a recent Junior High School graduate from Saforo in the Eastern Region, was living with the complainant at Pantang Village.
The prosecution stated that on August 23, Ansah contacted the victim by phone and invited her to visit him at Nyamebekyere, sending her money for transportation.
The victim left the house after the complainant departed for work and traveled to Nyamebekyere, where she stayed with Ansah for three days. The victim switched off her mobile phone, making it impossible for her family to contact her. She allegedly revealed that she and Ansah engaged in sexual intercourse during her stay.
A police medical form was issued to the complainant to seek medical treatment for the victim.
On August 28, the complainant returned the endorsed medical report from a Police Hospital medical doctor, which allegedly established “forceful penetration into the victim’s vagina.”
On September 3, the Station Officer of Amanfrom Police Station, acting on a request from the Missing Persons Unit, arrested Ansah and handed him over to the Unit. The prosecution stated that Ansah admitted to the offence in his caution statement.
