A group of NPP members in Tema, formerly associated with Irene Naa Torshie Addo, the former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund, have publicly distanced themselves from her following reports of her alignment with Kennedy Agyapong in the NPP flagbearer race.

Recent media reports suggested that Naa Torshie Addo was planning to join Agyapong’s campaign. This alleged move was linked to a prophecy by Prophet El-Bernard and speculation that she aims to become Agyapong’s running mate in anticipation of a female Vice President being sworn in on January 7, 2029.

A photograph circulating on social media, depicting Naa Torshie Addo with members of the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, has fueled speculation about her intentions.

In response, a group of NPP members who previously supported Naa Torshie Addo within Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s camp have issued a statement disavowing her.

The group, through spokesperson Nana Yaw Ntim, criticized Naa Torshie Addo’s decision as a pursuit of “personal ambition over the collective ‘party interest’.” The statement emphasized that “not a single one of her longstanding allies from our party has joined her.”

According to the statement, the group believes Naa Torshie Addo’s decision stems from not being selected as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate. They further asserted that her move disregards party loyalty and is based on an unachievable vice-presidential ambition.

The group also criticized Naa Torshie Addo’s past performance in her constituency, stating that her lack of impact “demonstrates that our strength was never about one person.”

The statement concluded by reaffirming the group’s commitment to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that they remain “solidly behind” him and will work to ensure his victory.
