The Offinso North District Assembly, under the leadership of District Chief Executive Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment by providing financial assistance and essential items to 75 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on September 19, 2025.

The support, allocated according to national guidelines for PWD assistance, included:

•  Business Support: Over 35 PWDs each received GH¢2,000, totaling GH¢90,000, to bolster their entrepreneurial ventures.

• Medical and Educational Assistance: Fifteen PWDs received medical support, while eight students (attending special schools, training colleges, and local schools) were granted educational assistance.

• Assistive Devices: Two individuals received necessary assistive devices, and one student received a laptop. These items fall under the 15% health allocation.

•  Caregiver Support: Support was extended to caregivers of severely disabled PWDs, utilizing the allocated 10% of the funds.

•  Business Equipment: Seven deep freezers, two fufu pounding machines, one hair dryer, one sewing machine, and one barbering startup kit were distributed to aid in income-generating activities.

The District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) allocation for PWDs was managed with transparency, with suppliers directly engaged for procurement purposes. Beyond direct assistance, the Assembly also supported local union elections for physically challenged, deaf, and blind groups. The Assembly also assisted leaders in attending conferences and partnered for health and eye screenings benefiting 96 PWDs in Akumadan.

“I urge all beneficiaries to make good use of the support to improve their livelihoods,” Hon. Ofosu Acheampong stated, “and I reaffirm the Assembly’s commitment to building an inclusive district where no one is left behind.”
