“NPP’s Nana ‘B’ accused of sabotaging parliamentary primaries, NEC petitioned for his resignation:

A former parliamentary aspirant for Manhyia South, Kwabena Addo Amankwah, has filed a formal petition with the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s National Executive Council (NEC), demanding an investigation into alleged misconduct by National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B. The petition, dated September 3, 2025, accuses Nana Boakye of ethical breaches and a conflict of interest by interfering in the party’s parliamentary primaries to advance a specific vice-presidential candidate.
Amankwah alleges that during a meeting on January 4, 2024, at Nana Boakye’s residence, the National Organizer explicitly endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh better known as Napo for the vice-presidential nomination. He further claims Nana Boakye pressured him to withdraw from the Manhyia South parliamentary primaries in order to strengthen Napo’s chances, as he (Napo) didn’t have a contestant in his race to the Vice-Presidential ambition.
“This instruction constitutes direct interference in a parliamentary primary, with the clear intention of manipulating outcomes to favor one candidate,” Amankwah stated in his petition. He argues that Nana B abused his office, violated NPP ethics, and undermined the fairness of the party’s internal processes.
The petition accuses Nana Boakye of abandoning neutrality and compromising the integrity of the primaries. Amankwah further cites Article 9(5)(a) and Article 3(7) of the NPP’s constitution, which require neutrality and prohibit actions that could bring the party into disrepute.
Amankwah warns that Nana Boakye’s continued involvement in the presidential primaries will erode trust, fuel factionalism, and weaken party unity. He is urging the NEC to direct Nana Boakye to resign or recuse himself from any supervisory role in the presidential primaries while the investigation is ongoing. He also calls for strict enforcement of the party’s constitution and Code of Conduct to ensure all officers remain neutral in internal contests.
“The New Patriotic Party was founded on the principles of freedom, fairness, and justice,” Amankwah stated, emphasizing the importance of upholding these values in internal elections.
