Angry Mpatuam youth demand immediate justice, threaten retaliation after assemblyman shooting
Outrage in Mpatuam: Youth Vow Action Following Killing of Assemblyman by Military Personnel

In the wake of the fatal shooting of Hon. Sampson Darkwa, the Assembly Member for Mpatuam-Aboabo, frustrated youth in the area are demanding immediate justice for their deceased representative.
According to reports, the assembly member was killed by military personnel deployed by the Asanko Mining Company, allegedly without cause. The youth claim that Hon. Darkwa had been attempting to mediate and calm a group of community members who were protesting the earlier killing of another local youth Kwasi Bonsu, also at the hands of the same military personnel. Instead, the assemblyman became a target.
“We are tired of these killings of innocent residents in the Manso area by the Asanko Mining Company,” stated one of the angry youth. “We are pleading with President John Dramani to immediately intervene to ensure our safety. Are these mining companies only here to extract gold from our lands and make us targets of senseless killings?”
The youth expressed their growing frustration with the ongoing killings of community members, reportedly by Asanko Mining Company and its associated military personnel.
“We may be compelled to turn our area into a Liberia-like war zone if this injustice continues,” they warned.
