MTN Ghana Foundation Empowers Youth with Mentorship and Digital Skills Training

The MTN Ghana Foundation underscored its dedication to youth empowerment and digital advancement at the National Youth Mentorship Summit 2025, held at the University of Ghana Business School, Legon. The summit brought together approximately 800 students and young professionals from across Ghana for a transformative event focused on mentorship, digital literacy, and leadership development.
Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, highlighted the company’s commitment to equipping African youth with the necessary skills to excel in a digital future.
“MTN is proud to support this national mentorship program focused on young people in tertiary institutions. As a brand committed to driving Africa’s progress, we recognize that youth development and entrepreneurship are essential for sustainable economic empowerment. The youth are not just the future – they are now. It is our responsibility to equip them with the digital tools, entrepreneurial mindset, and soft skills they need to thrive in a connected world,” she stated.
A key aspect of MTN’s participation was the promotion of the MTN Skills Academy, a flagship MTN Ghana Foundation initiative that provides free access to world-class digital skills training. Courses include data analytics, cybersecurity, and career development tools.
Ebenezer Terkpeh, Education Portfolio Advisor at the MTN Ghana Foundation, explained that the academy aims to reach over 10,000 young people in Ghana. “We have transitioned from a telecoms company to a technology company. To meet our future workforce needs, we must invest in equipping local talent with the right skills. The MTN Skills Academy does just that, offering both basic and advanced programs with certifications from top global universities,” he said.
Albert Prempeh Kusi, founder of the LEC Group and convener of the National Mentorship summit, commended MTN Ghana for its consistent and impactful contribution to youth development. He noted that through initiatives like the MTN Skills Academy and their continued support of mentorship programs, MTN is actively investing in Ghana’s and Africa’s future.
The 2025 National Youth Mentorship Summit, which commenced on June 21, included several weeks of sessions, workshops, and discussions at four public universities.
