Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has received a boost in his bid to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Chairman with the endorsement of staunch party supporter Obaayaa Racecourse.
In a video shared on SikaOfficial’s X page, Obaayaa praised Wontumi’s leadership skills, describing him as a powerful figure capable of challenging the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Wontumi has formally announced his intention to contest for the NPP National Chairmanship position, citing spiritual conviction and a calling to serve the party at the national level.
His declaration has sparked discussions among NPP members and supporters, with many curious about his vision for the party’s future.
Wontumi’s bid has not been without challenges. Some party members blame him for the NPP’s disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections, while others, like the Bono and Ahafo chairmen, are strategizing to block his support in their strongholds due to alleged interference in their leadership during the elections.
Despite these challenges, Wontumi remains optimistic about the party’s future and believes he is the best candidate to lead the NPP back to power in the 2028 elections.
