A Kumasi family at Pankrono is pleading for swift justice following the gruesome murder of 48-year-old Akwasi Baako, also known as Kudjo Kibbs, who was found dead in his bedroom in the Pankrono Kodua area on March 6th.

The family received news of Mr. Baako’s death on Ghana’s Independence Day. Arriving at his home, they discovered signs of forced entry and the grim reality of his murder.

Mr. Yaw Darkwa, the family spokesperson and brother to the deceased, told reporters that police investigations have led to the arrest of a single suspect, a resident of the same house. This suspect has reportedly provided vital information, including the names, photos, and contact details of two additional suspects believed to be involved in the crime.

While the Asona royal family of Kumawu Bodomase, to which Mr. Baako belonged, acknowledges the initial progress made by the Kumasi Tafo Moro Market Police, they remain deeply concerned that the other two suspects are still at large.

The family is now appealing directly to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Tetteh Yohunu, and the entire police force, urging them to expedite the apprehension of the remaining suspects and ensure they face the full force of the law. They are also calling on the public to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the family.
