Job Revocations: Solomon Owusu calls for an end to post-election employment turmoil, slams NDC, NPP:

Solomon Owusu, a senior communications member of the Movement for Change, has voiced strong criticism regarding the recent revocation of employment by the current NDC government, specifically targeting appointments made by the NPP administration in its final days. Owusu’s remarks, monitored by Newspalacegh.Com, were made during a discussion on TV3 about the ongoing debate over post-election employment practices.
Owusu condemned the practice of governments making last-minute hires before leaving office, describing it as a practice ripe for abuse. He simultaneously criticized the subsequent revocation of those appointments by the incoming administration.
The Movement for Change spokesperson argued that the public sector cannot be the sole engine of job creation, and that Ghana must prioritize the private sector to address the country’s unemployment challenges. He highlighted the failures of government programs like “Planting for Food and Jobs,” attributing their shortcomings to poor implementation and a disconnect from the realities of agriculture.
Owusu emphasized the need for practical, hands-on leadership in the agricultural sector, urging the Minister of Agriculture to spend more time “in the farm, in the bush” monitoring policy implementation rather than attending programs in hotels.
He further called for a shift in economic policies to prioritize sectors like agriculture and industrialization, suggesting that this would create sustainable employment opportunities and reduce reliance on imports.
