Oliver Barker-Vormawor, who has been accused of making disparaging comments about the Parliamentary Appointment Committee, has denied the allegations. Speaking in a conciliatory tone, Barker-Vormawor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address the committee and acknowledged its constitutional role.

Barker-Vormawor specifically apologized to Dr. Omane Boamah for his vetting process being overshadowed by the controversy surrounding his social media posts.

However, he categorically denied writing the “second statement” attributed to him, which accused the chair or members of the NDC of asking for money or submitting to ORF.

He praised the Chair of the committee for his leadership and reiterated that he had previously commended the Chair for retaining his dignity. Barker-Vormawor also disassociated himself from comments that alleged corruption against committee members, stating that these comments were misrepresented and incorrectly attributed to him.

Regarding the controversial social media posts, Barker-Vormawor explained that the misinformation appeared on a Facebook post, which he had identified as “fake” four days prior. He claimed that the post in question had been edited “several times,” casting doubt on its authenticity and his intentions.

Barker-Vormawor denied being a member of the NDC, stating that he has consistently voted for the CPP and that his voting record reflects his ideology. He referenced a book by Manasseh Azure, suggesting that allegations of corruption are a normal part of discourse.

Throughout his statement, Barker-Vormawor emphasized his role as an advocate and researcher concerned about improper practices. His speech was abruptly cut off by the chairman before he could fully present his argument.

However, Oliver Vormawor finally apologized to the committee for the comment he made, especially the first one which suggested that some of the committee members had been involved in corruption. Adding that he revere the committee’s work and that was no way he would speak to denigrate them.
