Akuffo Addo’s statue in Secondi completely vandalized by unknown individuals, head severed:

The statue of former President Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia- Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, has been vandalized, with the head severed and other parts of the statue broken. The destruction was revealed in a social media post by Empire FM, cited by Newspalacegh.com.
The identity of those responsible for the act of vandalism is currently unknown. This is not the first time the statue has been targeted; it was previously damaged a few weeks ago and subsequently repaired.
The statue has been a subject of controversy since its unveiling on November 6, 2024, with many calling for its relocation. Among them is Blay Nyameke Armah, Member of Parliament for the Secondi Constituency in the Western Region, who has suggested seeking permission from former President John Dramani Mahama to relocate the statue to Akufo-Addo’s hometown, Kyebi.
Former President John Dramani Mahama was among those who criticized the erection of the statue, calling it an act of self-glorification. He stated that such honors should be bestowed by the public in recognition of a leader’s achievements, rather than being a self-initiated effort.
Additionally, some residents of Sekondi have expressed dissatisfaction with the statue’s placement in their community, particularly due to the poor condition of the nearby road.
