Sanitation Day; Tafo MCE leads sanitation drive by desilting chocked gutters, warns defaulters of impending action:

Mr. Abubakar Sadiq, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Old Tafo, is gaining widespread commendation for his extraordinary hands-on approach to sanitation, personally participating in a clean-up exercise while simultaneously delivering a stern warning to residents neglecting their environmental responsibilities. The MCE led the government’s monthly Sanitation Day exercise in the Pankrono Electoral Area, setting a remarkable example for the community.

Dressed in full work gear, including wellington boots and hand gloves, Mr. Sadiq diligently engaged in the clean-up across Pankrono, Bediako, and Adabraka electoral areas. Eyewitnesses expressed surprise and admiration as the MCE, without hesitation, jumped into choked and unpleasant gutters to desilt them, demonstrating a profound commitment to the task.
Bystanders offered widespread praise for his dedication. “This MCE is too much. He is down to Earth. He’s shown a great leadership example. God will bless him. I have never seen an MCE desilting gutters like this before. You can see that he does it with a clean heart,” remarked by some residents.
Beyond his exemplary actions, Mr. Sadiq used the opportunity to reinforce the Old Tafo Municipal Assembly’s unwavering commitment to enforcing sanitation by-laws. He declared that punitive actions, including spot fines or court proceedings, would be taken against defaulters. This includes landlords who fail to sanitize their frontages or do not participate in the communal clean-up exercises.

The MCE underscored that sanitation hygiene is a collective effort, urging every responsible citizen to complement the government’s commitment to reducing communicable and non-communicable diseases. He voiced concern over the attitude of some residents who “sit on the fence” while others actively work to keep the environment clean, stressing that the Assembly’s intensified enforcement is aimed at promoting a clean and healthy environment for all residents of the Old Tafo municipality.
