Breaking News! Police inspector who murdered girlfriend at Adum sentenced to life imprisonment:
Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, a police officer found guilty of the 2023 murder of Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Her Ladyship Mrs. Rosemary Baah Tosu delivered the judgment today at the High Court in Kumasi.
The verdict followed a 5-2 vote by the seven-member jury. Twumasi pleaded for mercy following the sentencing, citing his responsibilities as a father to a 10-year-old child, but his plea was denied.
Madam Adwoa Nyarko, Victoria Dapaah’s mother, expressed mixed emotions. “I’m happy and I’m also sad. I’m happy because we’ve had justice for our daughter, and I’m sad because she’s not alive to witness this judgment.” She voiced her anger at Twumasi’s appeal for leniency, questioning his concern for his own child while he had deprived Victoria’s child of a mother.
Abusuapanin Nana Addo Barimah, Victoria’s uncle and family head, expressed relief that justice had finally been served, while also voicing concern that two jurors had voted for acquittal despite the evidence.

The murder occurred on April 20, 2023, in Adum, Kumasi. Victoria Dapaah was found dead, having been shot multiple times. Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, a SWAT bodyguard stationed at Manhyia Palace since 2017, quickly became the prime suspect.
During the trial, Twumasi denied being in a romantic relationship with Victoria, claiming she was just a friend. He disputed evidence presented by the prosecution, including claims that the affair had caused marital problems and that he had used his service weapon, a Norico pistol, in the killing.
He also contested the circumstances of his arrest, claiming he had voluntarily approached the police rather than being apprehended as claimed by the prosecution. He repeatedly asserted his innocence, stating, “I know nothing about her death” and “What I have said is the truth.” Despite his denials and claims of innocence, he was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment.
