Man Battles for Life After Being Stabbed by Wife in Domestic Dispute:
A 29-year-old man, identified only as Kofi, is fighting for his life after allegedly being stabbed by his 21-year-old wife, Maafua, during a domestic dispute over a meal at Maamaso, near New Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Monday, October 20, 2025, when an argument erupted between the couple over a change in their planned dinner.
According to a report by adomonline.com, Kofi had provided Maafua with money to prepare banku with okro stew. However, Maafua chose to cook light soup instead, explaining that the money wasn’t sufficient for okro stew, and she had saved a portion for future use.
Maafua said her husband became enraged upon learning of the change, leading to a heated confrontation that escalated into a physical altercation.
During the scuffle, Kofi allegedly grabbed a knife. Maafua reportedly overpowered him, seized the weapon, and stabbed him.
Eyewitness Atta Mallam stated that Maafua appeared to have acted intentionally.
Kofi’s brother, Francis, who was in a nearby room, said he rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion and found his brother bleeding heavily.
The victim was initially transported to the New Abirem Government Hospital but was subsequently referred to the Koforidua Government Hospital for advanced medical treatment. Police in the area have launched an investigation into the incident.
