The Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the death of a 20-year-old Senegalese national, identified as Cheith Toure. His body is currently held at the Ebenezer mortuary in Tafo, Kumasi.

According to DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs Unit for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, initial inquiries revealed that an individual named Issah, claiming to be Toure’s brother, brought the body to the mortuary. Issah initially reported that Toure had died in an accident and was transported to Manhyia Government Hospital in critical condition on October 16, 2025.

However, DSP Ahianyo stated that hospital records contradict Issah’s account. Records indicate that Toure was deceased upon arrival at the hospital and displayed severe abdominal injuries.

“Based on these inconsistencies and the nature of the injuries, we are treating Mr. Toure’s death as suspicious,” DSP Ahianyo confirmed. “The Ashanti Regional Police Command assures the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the precise circumstances surrounding his death.”

DSP Ahianyo further appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Regional CID in Kumasi, call the police hotline at 18555, 191, or 112, or reach out to the investigating officer directly at 0248483741.
