Unity Party Rejects NPP Amnesty Offer, Citing Expulsion and Political Differences:

The newly formed Unity Party, led by National Chairman Abubakar Boniface Siddique, has firmly rejected the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent amnesty offer, stating they will not be returning to the fold. The rejection underscores the widening political divide following the Unity Party’s formation.
“We were sacked from the NPP, but now they want to grant us amnesty? We will not go back,” Siddique declared, dismissing the NPP’s gesture.
The NPP’s amnesty was extended to members facing suspension or disciplinary action, including Siddique, Alan Kyeremanteng, and Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe – all prominent figures who have since distanced themselves from the party. Siddique, a former NPP National Executive member and Minister of State, previously broke away to form the Movement for Change (M4C) and contest the 2024 presidential election before ultimately forming the Unity Party.
The Unity Party’s stance signifies a major shift in Ghana’s political landscape, demonstrating the deep-seated disagreements that led to the departure of key figures like Siddique, Kyeremanteng, and Nyaho-Tamakloe from the NPP. Their decision to remain separate casts doubt on any potential reunification in the future.
