Asantehene Warns Against Hypocrisy, Invokes Golden Stool’s Authority:

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has issued a strong warning to those around him who feign affection while harboring ill intentions. Speaking at an Asanteman Council meeting on October 16, 2025, the Asantehene cautioned that anyone displaying insincere loyalty would face the consequences of the Golden Stool (Sika Dwa Kofi).
According to opemsuo.com, a Manhyia-affiliated portal, Otumfuo expressed concern that his genuine goodwill towards the traditional leaders under his authority is not always reciprocated.
“Many of you smile with me, pretending to love me but have ill intent towards me. Sikadwa will deal with whoever feigns his love for me. I have a pure intent towards all of you,” the Asantehene reportedly stated.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also announced plans for a private meeting with traditional leaders to discuss emerging issues within the traditional hierarchy, including the silence and apparent disengagement of some leaders in the Sampa and Offinso stool cases.
“We all sat here and delivered verdicts on both cases, but when issues arose afterwards, none of you came out to defend the decisions,” he reportedly said, adding that some leaders secretly spread falsehoods about him. “I was appointed to ascend Sikadwa, and they attached wisdom and power to reign. I will use them to deal with these issues and to rule.”
The Asantehene emphasized the importance of prioritizing the collective interest of Asanteman and urged all traditional authorities within his realm to do the same.
The Golden Stool, Sika Dwa Kofi, holds immense significance in Ashanti tradition, believed to have descended from the heavens to rest upon the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, guided by the priest Okomfo Anokye.
