The chiefs and people of the Volta Region are preparing to host the annual “Duamenefa” Grand Durbar on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School mini stadium. This year’s event will feature Chief of Staff Julius Debrah as the Special Guest of Honour.

“Duamenefa,” meaning “Let us coexist in peace,” is a regional peace and development initiative led by the Duamenefa Foundation, a non-governmental organization established by Fafaa 100.3 FM, Dzodze. The initiative harnesses the power of sports and culture to promote peacebuilding, unity, and youth development across communities in the Volta Region.

Held in collaboration with the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Football Association, and the Athletics Association of Ghana, the “Duamenefa” program aims to identify and cultivate hidden talents among the youth, guiding them towards national and international recognition.

Over the past nine years, the program has successfully fostered unity among hundreds of communities. It has also facilitated the entry of promising athletes into Division One, Division Two, and Premier League teams, and has provided international opportunities for youths who now play professionally in Europe.

The mega project is sponsored by Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple (Togbi Nyaxordeakorla I), Council of State Member representing the Volta Region. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, the Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation and CEO of Fafaa 100.3 FM, described Dr. Tanko as a visionary who believes in the power of the youth and is dedicated to empowering them for a brighter future through sports, peacebuilding, and community development.

The Duamenefa Foundation currently boasts a strong network of 48,658 registered and certified volunteers spread across the entire Volta Region, all committed to advancing peace and development at the grassroots level.

Stakeholders have extended an invitation to Chief of Staff Julius Debrah as the Special Guest of Honour for the 2025 durbar in recognition of his exceptional contribution to community development and leadership.

The 2025 edition of the Duamenefa Grand Durbar promises to be the biggest yet, featuring rich cultural displays, live musical performances, peace and unity exhibitions, and dramatic presentations, celebrating the region’s diversity and talent.

Organizers are calling on the general public to attend.
