Kofi Boakye convicted over ‘police rank’ impersonation in Ashaiman:

The Ashaiman District Court has convicted 54-year-old Kofi Boakye Frimpong, a former public officer, for falsely pretending to be a police officer in active service.
Presiding Judge Derick Pardden Eshun convicted Frimpong on his own plea of guilty to the charge. The court deferred sentencing and remanded Frimpong into custody, ordering him to reappear on October 14, 2025. Frimpong pleaded for leniency.
Prosecuting officer, Inspector Henry Nartey Tetteh stated that the complainants in the case were police officers of the Zenu-Attadeka Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) who arrested Frimpong and brought him to the station.
The prosecution detailed that on September 17, 2025, at approximately 09:00 hours, while on duty at the Zenu Star Fuel Station, the officers stopped Frimpong, who was dressed in a tactical black long-sleeved police uniform bearing a chief inspector’s rank badge.
Suspecting that Frimpong was not a genuine police officer, the officers engaged him in conversation. During the interaction, Frimpong abruptly jumped onto a motorbike and instructed the rider to speed away.
This action heightened the officers’ suspicion, leading to a chase and his subsequent arrest.
Further investigation revealed that Frimpong is a dismissed chief inspector who had relocated to Ashaiman and was continuing to wear a police uniform and hold himself out as a police officer. Frimpong was subsequently charged with the offense while the investigation continued.
