Three communities in Ahafo Ano South West get electricity, DCE pledges for more:

Residents of Ohia Nhye Da, Mmrobem, and Barniekrom Nyamebekyere in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region are celebrating the arrival of electricity. The three communities were officially connected to the national grid on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Abubakar Sedik commissioned the projects, which were implemented under the Rural Electrification Project through the Ministry of Energy.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Sedik emphasized the transformative impact electricity would have on the communities, stating it would boost education and stimulate economic activity. He also cautioned residents to use qualified electricians to handle electrical issues to prevent fire hazards.
Speaking to the media, the DCE pledged that all communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District would have access to electricity by the end of 2028.
Community members expressed their gratitude for the project. Some thanked the Nana Addo-led administration for initiating the project, while others acknowledged the John Dramani Mahama administration for completing it after years of darkness. This bipartisan appreciation highlights the importance of the project to the communities.
