Parliament to Launch 2nd Edition of Democracy Cup:
The Parliament of Ghana is set to launch the second edition of its annual Democracy Cup Match in August 2025. The launch event will take place on July 24th, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium within Parliament House, according to a press release issued by the Director of the Media Relations Department, David Sebastian Damoah.
The Democracy Cup, an initiative of the Parliament of Ghana, was introduced in 2024 with the inaugural match held at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 17th, 2024. Asante Kotoko emerged victorious in the first edition, defeating Accra Hearts of Oak.
Mr. Damoah stated that the launch event, presided over by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will unveil the two competing teams for this year’s match, as well as provide further details about the event.
The release concluded by encouraging the general public and football enthusiasts to support and participate in the upcoming game, promising “a lot of excitement and surprises” in this second edition.
