The General Overseer of Open Arms Ministry, Apostle St. Sarkodie, has attributed the recent intervention by national security operatives at the residence of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi to consequences of actions taken during the NPP government’s time in power.

A few days ago, heavily armed officers from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) attempted to execute a search warrant at Wontumi’s Kumasi residence but were unsuccessful. Speaking to journalists at his church auditorium on Monday, Apostle Sarkodie described Wontumi’s predicament as “reaping what he sowed,” linking the current situation to the outspoken criticisms Wontumi made against prominent figures from the NDC, including former President John Dramani Mahama and Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Addressing Wontumi’s call for support from the NPP following the failed operation, the controversial cleric dismissed it as “childish and immaterial.” He stated, “I’m very sorry for you, Wontumi. Your cup is full. You’re reaping what you sowed when the NPP was in power. There is no way you will get help and you know personally that the party will not help you.”

Apostle Sarkodie further alleged that Wontumi had acted with impunity during his party’s time in government, taking advantage of his position, and warned that it is now time to face the consequences. He urged supporters defending Wontumi to apologize on his behalf to mitigate any potential punishment, cautioning that if the government proceeds with prosecution, Wontumi’s situation would become “very miserable.”

The cleric also expressed concern that Wontumi’s behavior and attitude might be provoking public anger. He called on dignitaries and individuals of good character to intervene and seek a resolution, emphasizing the importance of handling the matter delicately due to Wontumi’s influential role in politics.

Apostle Sarkodie advised party members and followers to avoid escalating tensions and to instead pray for forgiveness and seek peaceful ways to resolve the challenges faced by Wontumi, which he attributed to the chairman’s “loud mouth and arrogance of power.”

These remarks were made during a press conference where Apostle Sarkodie addressed several trending national issues.
