“I single-handedly funded the 2014 NPP Tamale congress with GH¢1 Billion” – Chairman Wontumi:

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made the startling claim that he personally funded the party’s 2014 congress held in Tamale with a sum of GH¢1 billion.
Wontumi made the assertion during an interview on his media outlet, Wontumi TV, on Thursday, May 15, while discussing his commitment to supporting the party and his ambition to become the next National Chairman. He emphasized his selflessness and dedication to the NPP, stating that he consistently contributes financially and in other ways to ensure the party’s victory in the 2028 elections.
“In 2014, I contributed funds at the national level for the Tamale Congress that elected Chairman Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong,” Wontumi stated. “After organizing the Ashanti Regional Congress, I donated GH¢1 billion from the remaining funds to the party. This is something I do regularly – I am a very selfless person.”
Wontumi added that his contributions to the party are well documented and have always been made without any expectation of personal gain. He also noted that he rented an office building for the regional party for 10 years before securing a permanent location.
Wontumi, who is known for his outspoken style, also expressed gratitude to the NPP for the platform it has provided him, allowing him to gain popularity through his service as Regional Chairman.
The veracity of Wontumi’s claim about the GH¢1 billion donation is yet to be independently verified.
