“I am still the legitimate queen mother, nobody has destooled me”- Offinso hemaa denies destoolment claims in fiery address:
"Otumfuo has not destooled me because nobody has had any charge against me, stop spreading falsehoods
Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding her position, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, the Queen Mother of Offinso, has addressed town residents and the media for the first time, vehemently denying claims of her destoolment and asserting her continued legitimacy.
Speaking passionately, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko firmly stated, “Nobody has ever dethroned me. Our overlord has neither dethroned me nor said it anywhere that he has dethroned me. I have no charge against me, and no one has had any charge against me. I am still Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, the Queen Mother of Offinso.”
She emphasized that any legitimate destoolment would require formal charges, of which there are none. “If I have been dethroned, there would be charges against me. And I have not done anything wrong.” She further asserted that Nana Konadu, the Ashanti Queen Mother (Otumfuo’s mother), has also not brought any charges against her nor initiated any destoolment proceedings.
Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko addressed the appointment of Amoako as chief, stating, “I didn’t select or choose Amoako to be the chief of Offinso. He is not the paramount chief of Offinso, and he can never be. Just that some chiefs, out of fear, are just following and tolerating him.”
She went on to vehemently discredit the current Offinso chief and queen, labeling them both as “fake.” She explained that the proper procedures for enstooling a queen mother in Offinso involve enstoolment at the town, and not Dwumanafo.
“The current Offinso chief and the queen are all fake. Offinso Hemaa is not supposed to be enthroned at Dwumanafo,” she declared. “It is the same procedure we use to enthrone a chief in Offinso. Yaw Nkrumah, who is a stranger, cannot go to Manhyia to enthrone a chief before bringing him to the people of Offinso. This is why I describe both the chief and the queen as fake – ‘fake chief, fake queen.” Nana Ama Serwaa said.
Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko concluded by asserting her legal recognition: “I have been gazetted in the name of the Asanteman that I am the legitimate Queen Mother of Offinso, and everybody knows.” She maintained.
