Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Acting Managing Director for the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), has lauded the 2025 budget, recently presented by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, as a comprehensive roadmap for Ghana’s development under a future Mahama-led NDC government.

In a statement released today, Gyamfi highlighted the budget’s commitment to strengthening local governance through increased support for assembly members and its strategic investments in youth employment.

“This budget is a testament to the NDC’s unwavering belief in decentralization as the engine of inclusive growth,” Gyamfi stated. “The allocation of 100 million Ghana Cedis for assembly member stipends is not merely an expense; it’s an investment in the very foundation of our local governance system. By empowering assembly members, we are empowering communities to take control of their own development.”

Gyamfi emphasized that the stipends would enable assembly members to dedicate more time and resources to their duties, leading to more effective representation and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.

Beyond local governance, Gyamfi applauded the budget’s focus on addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment. He specifically highlighted the National Apprenticeship Program with a proposed allocation of 300 million Ghana Cedis), the Adwumawura Program (allocated 100 million Ghana Cedis), and the Coders Program (also allocated 100 million Ghana Cedis) as evidence of the NDC’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Ghanaians.

“These programs are not just promises; they are concrete plans with dedicated funding to equip our youth with the skills and resources they need to succeed in the modern economy,” Gyamfi asserted. “From vocational training to entrepreneurial support to digital literacy, this budget provides a comprehensive framework for empowering the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.”

Gyamfi concluded by urging Ghanaians to support the NDC’s vision for a more decentralized, equitable, and prosperous future.

He described the 2025 budget as a bold and ambitious plan that would transform Ghana into a nation where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
