Kejetia Petty Traders appeal for a fair allocation in the Kejetia Phase 2 project:

Over 632 members of the Kejetia Petty Traders Association are calling on His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, former President John Dramani Mahama, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, to ensure they receive stores in the second phase of the Kejetia Market project.
The traders, who were original occupants of the old Kejetia Market, have been conducting their businesses on the streets under harsh weather conditions despite making financial contributions to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
They expressed their frustrations at a press conference in Kumasi, urging the authorities to prioritize them in the allocation process.
“We have suffered significant losses since being displaced from the market, and we’re appealing to the authorities to consider our plight,” said Mr. Emmanuel Kwarteng, Chairman and Founder of the association. The traders also emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the allocation process, warning that any unfairness could lead to tension and unrest within the trading community.
The second phase of the Kumasi Kejetia/Central Market redevelopment project aims to provide additional modern trading spaces to accommodate displaced traders and improve the overall business environment in the city.
However, concerns about fair allocation have already begun to emerge, with several trader groups pushing for inclusion in the process.
