A respected senior citizen, retired Methodist Minister and former Chaplain to the U.S Military Hospital, V. Rev. Jubilant Boakye Danquah, has publicly applauded the Ashanti Regional Minister- designate, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his commitment to dualizing the critical Tafo-Mampong road, a major artery connecting from the Suame roundabout.

During his recent parliamentary vetting, Dr. Amoakohene had emphasized that the dualization of this road was a top priority, aimed at alleviating the notorious traffic congestion plaguing the route. He acknowledged that although a sod-cutting ceremony had previously been held by the previous administration to signal the project’s launch, the project never materialized.

“The previous government cut sod with assurances of completion by the end of 2024. Unfortunately, that sod seemed to get lost, and the project did not progress,” Dr. Amoakohene stated, addressing the parliamentary committee. “I want to assure the house that I will find that ‘lost sod’ and ensure this project is well completed, adding that the project would be a legacy for the people of Mampong and its traditional leaders including Nana Agyakomaa Dufie II, the queen mother for the people of Mampong, who was present.

Dr. Amoakohene reiterated his firm commitment to closely collaborate with the relevant sector and the central government to expedite the project’s funding and subsequent implementation.

In response, Very Rev. Jubilant Boakye Danquah commended the minister for his well-considered initiative. He expressed his hope that the current government would follow through on its pledges and deliver tangible results, rather than engaging in the empty political rhetoric often associated with politicians. He emphasized the need for action and genuine change.

Given that Dr. Amoakohene hails from Mampong, there are high expectations for him to deliver substantial developmental projects for his region. This would not only serve his constituents and the broader Ashanti community but also demonstrate to all Ghanaians, especially the youth, his ability to translate promises into tangible development.
