Petroleum CEO’s ‘silly’ remark sparks outrage on social media, slammed for being uncouth and arrogant:

The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, is facing a wave of criticism on social media following a heated exchange with Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri.
The incident occurred during a sitting of the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, and was captured in a video shared by Channel One TV.
The conflict arose when Hardcastle, during a discussion, referred to the MP’s caucus in Parliament as “micro.” This remark was perceived as offensive by Annoh-Dompreh, who reportedly threatened to take action against her. In response, Hardcastle is said to have dismissed his threats and labeled him “silly”.
Social media users have been quick to condemn Hardcastle’s behavior, characterizing it as arrogant and disrespectful.
“The arrogance has started ooo,” commented one user, reflecting the general sentiment. Another user criticized her actions as “uncouth” and “uncultured,” adding that she displayed a lack of respect for Parliament and its members.
Many users echoed these sentiments, expressing dismay at Hardcastle’s use of the word “silly” towards a Member of Parliament. “This behavior from the lady is very disrespectful. It is entirely wrong to use such unkind words toward a Member of Parliament,” another social media user posted.
Other comments included: “What the hell? She is very disrespectful and arrogant. Calling an honourable Member of Parliament ‘silly’ unprovoked? Girl wei mbu neho koraa!” and “How do you call your colleague ‘silly’? That’s bad.”
Several users pointed out the importance of showing respect to Parliament, regardless of any disagreements, “This is completely unfair, it reeks of arrogance and disrespect. You cannot approach the High Court and act in this manner. We must extend the same level of respect to the Parliament of Ghana, even if we disagree with their decisions.”
Furthermore, some commenters have questioned Hardcastle’s suitability for her leadership role: “And this woman wants to lead an institution as CEO? She thinks being hardcore and insulting people in public shows she can do the job.”
