Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has launched a blistering attack on Oliver Barker- Vormawor during a parliamentary hearing, accusing the activist of disrespecting Parliament and offering a “lame” apology.

The fiery exchange occurred after Barker-Vormawor was invited to address allegations of disparaging remarks and bribery claims he allegedly made against the Appointments Committee.

Annoh-Dompreh, visibly angered, directly challenged Barker-Vormawor’s claims of innocence regarding a controversial social media post, noting that the activist often goes on social media to make all manner of comments against the institution of Parliament. He questioned when Barker-Vormawor realized that a particular post “was not attributable to you,” adding that despite the alleged error, the activist still waited until being invited to Parliament to make any response.

The Minority Chief Whip further pointed out that even after receiving the parliamentary invitation, Barker-Vormawor continued to post on social media, which Annoh-Dompreh sees as a deliberate sign of disrespect. He directly accused Barker-Vormawor of showing no regard for Parliament, stating: “I am putting it to you that you are disrespectful to an arm of government.”

Annoh-Dompreh then dismissed Barker-Vormawor’s apology, labeling it an “afterthought” and implying it was insincere, simply because he had been caught out. He also accused Barker-Vormawor of lacking evidence for the bribery allegations leveled against the committee, noting he was “just on a phonic of your own.”

The Minority Chief Whip concluded with a challenge for Barker-Vormawor to be bold. “As bold as you were when you were putting out a statement, you should be bold to defend your statement today, not to come here and give a lame apology.” Annoh-Dompreh then called on him to be bold and defend what he out. “As a man, that is what you should be doing.” Angry Annoh Dompreh reiterated.

The scathing rebuke from Annoh-Dompreh reflected a significant escalation in the tension surrounding Barker-Vormawor’s social media activity.
