Dr. Frank Amoakohene tapped Ashanti Regional Minister designate as Mahama announces ten regional nominees:
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been selected by President John Dramani Mahama as the Ashanti Regional Minister designate. This appointment places Dr. Amoakohene among the ten individuals nominated for regional minister positions across the country.
President Mahama’s official communication, conveying the names of the regional minister designates, has been submitted to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, for vetting and subsequent approval.
The nominated regional ministers are as follows:
• Northern Region: Adolf John
• Volta Region: James Gunu
• Eastern Region: Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey
• North-East Region: Ibrahim Tia
• Ashanti Region: Dr. Frank Amoakohene
• Upper East Region: Akamugri Donatus Atanga
• Ahafo Region: Charity Gardiner
• Savannah Region: Salisu Bi-Awuribe
• Greater Accra Region: Linda Ocloo, MP
The selection process for regional ministers in the remaining six regions—Bono, Bono East, Central, Western, Western North, and Upper West is still ongoing. These regions are expected to be filled in subsequent announcements.
In addition to these regional appointments, President Mahama has indicated that key security appointments are forthcoming by the end of the week. These crucial selections aim to address the persistent conflict in Bawku and surrounding areas.
This announcement follows the recent nominations of ministers -designate for critical portfolios, including Finance, Energy and Green Transition, and the Office of the Attorney General and Justice.
Addressing the conflict in Bawku, the President stated, “And so within this week, we’ll do the appointments of the Minister for Defence, the Minister for Interior, the National Security co-ordinator, the national security advisor, the BNI director; and when these appointments are made I am going to charge them to make Bawku one of their major priorities.”
