Parliamentarians summoned for inaugural sitting of 9th Parliament on January 7th:

The Acting Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, has officially summoned Members of Parliament for the first sitting of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

In a statement released today and signed by Mr. Djietror, he announced that the inaugural session is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, at Parliament House in Accra. The sitting will commence at five minutes past midnight (12:05 a.m.).

The summons, issued in accordance with Article 124 of the Constitution and Order 8(2) of the Standing Orders of Parliament, directs all elected Members of Parliament to attend the session.

The primary agenda for the inaugural sitting includes the election of a Speaker and Deputy Speakers of Parliament, key leadership positions for the legislative body. Following the election, the newly elected Speaker and all Members of the Ninth Parliament will be administered their respective oaths of office.
