The management team for legendary highlife musician Amakye Dede has released a statement explaining that a recent road accident was the reason behind his less-than-stellar performance in Kumasi.

According to the official statement, the accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 1:50 AM. Amakye Dede and his team were traveling from Takoradi City Mall, where they had just performed, to Agona Swedru for their next scheduled show when the incident took place between Apam and Winneba.

The statement further detailed that Amakye Dede and his team were promptly taken to the Winneba Hospital, where they received first aid treatment between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

Despite the physical strain from the accident, Amakye Dede showed his dedication to his fans by continuing his journey to Kumasi later that morning to fulfill his performance commitment. However, he was unable to perform as planned due to the ordeal. Instead, his band took the stage and delivered a memorable performance in his stead.

The vehicle involved in the accident was identified as a V8, which was carrying Amakye Dede and his management team.

“It is with deep concern that we inform our cherished fans, partners, and the general public about an unfortunate accident involving the legendary Amakye Dede and his team in the early hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 1:50 AM. The incident happened as they were traveling from Takoradi, following a successful performance at the Takoradi City Mall, to Agona Swedru for their next scheduled show.

The accident occurred between Apam and Winneba. Amakye Dede and his team were immediately transported to the Winneba Hospital, where they received first aid treatment from 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Despite the physical toll of the incident, Amakye Dede demonstrated remarkable dedication to his fans by traveling to Kumasi later that morning for a scheduled performance. However, due to the strain of the ordeal, he was unable to perform as planned. His incredible band stepped in to deliver a memorable performance on his behalf.
