Nobody can prevent us from becoming MPs in the 9th parliament- NDC’s Baba Sadiq sends strong warning:

Baba Sadiq Abdulai, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, has declared he will be sworn in as a Member of Parliament on January 6th, despite the Electoral Commission (EC) overturning his initial victory.

He accused EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, of attempting to subvert the will of the people by re-collating results in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“We won the elections credibly,” Sadiq stated emphatically, vowing that neither he nor other NDC candidates whose victories have been overturned will be deterred from taking their “legitimate roles.” He went on to warn the NPP Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, that attempts to retain his position by manipulating election results would fail.

“We are not cowards, and the revolution starts on 6th January,” Sadiq declared, referencing the NDC’s history.

Sadiq further asserted that the NDC will not be intimidated by the threat of a state of emergency, stating, “Nobody can scare us. Jean Mensa cannot choose for Ghanaians who they want to be their MP.” He insisted that all NDC candidates who won their seats will be sworn into Parliament.

Sadiq’s defiant stance follows a controversial re-collation of results at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC on December 21st. The re-collation resulted in the NPP gaining 7 out of 9 disputed constituencies.

Specifically, Sadiq’s victory in Okaikwei Central was overturned in favor of the incumbent NPP MP, Patrick Yaw Boamah. Similarly, Ebi Bright’s (NDC) victory in Tema Central was also overturned, giving the seat to the NPP’s Charles Forson.

Other constituencies with changed results included Obuasi East (NPP victory), Techiman South (NPP victory), Ahafo Ano South West (NPP victory), Ahafo Ano North (NPP victory), and Nsawam-Adoagyiri (NPP victory).

Results in Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North remain suspended by the EC due to unresolved issues.
