MTN spreads Christmas cheer to newborns with annual hamper donation:

Spread the love

MTN Ghana, a leading telecommunications company, has continued its annual tradition of donating Christmas hampers to newborns, distributing 600 gifts across all sixteen regions of Ghana. The company’s initiative, which began in 2011, brings joy to new mothers who delivered on Christmas Day.

This year, Mrs. Charity Darko, Head of Corporate Service in the northern business sector, revealed the details of the donation on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, following a distribution at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

“MTN Ghana distributed 600 hampers to babies born on Christmas Day in 30 hospitals nationwide, including 17 in the northern sector”.

The company, she said, increased the number of hampers from 500 last year to 600 this year. Mrs. Darko stated that the initiative demonstrates MTN’s commitment to its social responsibilities and spreading love during the Christmas season.

Pregnant women at KATH and the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Kumasi expressed their gratitude for the gifts, which contained a variety of baby items worth hundreds of Ghana cedis. The distribution of hampers was carried out concurrently across 30 hospitals.

Mrs. Darko thanked MTN’s loyal customers for their continued support.

Nurse Manager at KATH’s Orthopaedic and Gynaecology directorate, Mrs. Gifty Serwaa Adu, and Senior Midwife Officer at KATH, Mrs. Victoria Thompson, praised MTN for its timely and generous gesture, urging others to emulate the act of kindness.

Several beneficiaries, including Madam Rosemary Appiah Kubi and Dorothy Ameyaa, also expressed their appreciation and prayed for MTN’s continued success. The healthcare professionals further used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of antenatal care to reduce maternal mortality.
